"Every moment is an opportunity for change"

Silverleaf Counselling ensures that the therapeutic needs of all clients take precedence and that the relationship with the counsellor is exclusive, safe, authentic and confidential.

Counselling will be what you need it to be - you may like talking and being heard, you may like creative and narrative exploration or you may want to work on personal development and tasks.

We can do this Online via e-mail, Skype or Messenger, allowing for flexibility in counselling and therapeutic opportunities.

You may be a parent or carer who wants education and support for yourself or for your family if you have a child or adolescent with specific difficulties.

My speciality is Autism and Asperger's Syndrome.

I provide training face to face or via Skype/Messenger for Teachers and Teaching Assistants.

Workshops for schools can be offered for all staff on training days via Skype/Messenger or in your own facility.

At Silverleaf Counselling –

I believe each person has a unique way of thinking, perceiving and experiencing the world, and, therefore, has needs that are individual, special and ever changing.

My specialism is with people who are neurologically atypical - in other words - may have a diagnosis on the Autistic Spectrum or Asperger's Syndrome or ADHD.

It is thought that 70% of people have problems with the myriad of information and stimuli presented to them externally.

You may find that you, or someone you care for, sometimes has difficulty managing their moods - perhaps having mood swings, deep depressions - often for no apparent reason, or strong anxiety reactions.

You may be highly intelligent but have difficulty communicating this in language or coping in school, college or at work. Others may not understand you or the behaviours you use to communicate instead.

It can be easier to communicate online rather than directly to someone who hears your words and expects eye contact.

You may have difficulties forming friendships and relationships, or keeping them. You may want to be accepted as you are or be desperate for friendship but not know how to cope or employ social skills you don't understand.

You may have hypersensitivities - especially to some sounds, smells or touch and need to talk to someone about how to develop coping strategies.

You may need help with organisation, time management and prioritising to function in everyday life.

You may just want to talk to someone who understands AS and ADHD and is interested in understanding You.

Therefore –

I will treat you with respect and equality, without judgement or prejudice, and will accept you as the valuable person you are.

I will help you to find your voice and will listen to you at a time that is for you alone.

I will endeavour to build a trusting relationship with you based on understanding, acceptance and honesty.

I will give useful information and education unique to your situation, or offer referral to others who can help you in different ways, as appropriate.
